Michael Hutchins

Hi! My name is Michael Hutchins and I would like to share a little of what's happened in my life. It is something that changed my whole outlook on the way I now look at life. My hopes are that what I share may drastically change your outlook on life also.

I'm the oldest of two children raised by my mother as a single parent. We were forced to live on welfare. As I got older, I didn't like it because there was a lot of teasing aimed at me from my brother's friends. I met some friends that were homosexuals and began hanging out with them. At the time, I didn't realize that the life I was leading was the life of a gay man. BUT GOD! God had a plan. I began dressing up in woman's clothes and working the street corners. BUT GOD! He had a plan. Even in my ignorance, God kept me from all the hurts, harms, and dangers that could've easily swallowed me alive. I could have died many, many times. BUT GOD! He saw fit for me to live this day because He had a plan for the life He gave me upon this earth.

I began committing all different types of crimes from robberies to stealing cars. This is how sin begins. It starts off slowly and "then desire is conceived, and it gives birth to sin, and sin when it is full grown, it brings forth death." (James 1:15). This is the way sin operates. It's ultimate climax results in death, and since "all have sinned," you will eventually reach your climax also, which is death. BUT GOD!

I got into drugs real heavy, and I couldn't see that my life was messed up. The scripture says that Satan, "the god of this age had blinded my mind," and through my blindness, he kept me from seeing "the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God." (2 Cor. 4:4). The devil has millions and millions of God's creation in darkness, and just as I had to see Jesus to be delivered, the world needs to see Jesus too. They too will be delivered.

I got caught doing a robbery and went to prison. I wonder, my friend, do you think you will one day get caught? The Word says,"God will bring every work into judgement, including every secret thing, whether good or evil." (Ecc. 12:14). The judge gave me a 12-year sentence with 4 years mandatory before being eligible for parole. The difference between the earthly judge sentencing me and God as judge: if you sin against God in breaking one of His commandments, this means death. For the scripture says, "the wages of transgressing the law is death." (Rom. 6:23). However, the judge here upon earth can only kill the body. But what we as people need to fear is He who can kill the body and cast the soul into hellfire! (Mat. 10:28). I had been locked up before, but only in the county jail. Being in prison, I would hear of homosexuals being changed. I was getting so bad in this lifestyle that I had begun saying within myself that I was born this way. BUT GOD! He had a plan. I would go to church and hear the Word of God preached, but I would say to myself that I had time to get my life together, even though I knew the Lord was calling me. He says, "Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come into him and dine with him, and be with him." (Rev. 3:20). If you want the Lord to come into your life, the choice is yours.

I still had not received Christ, and when I finally was released, I went back to the street worse than I was when I first came to prison. I still didn't realize that God was sparing my life. While back on the street, I would go to church every now and then. It seemed like every time I did got to church, somebody would tell me God wanted to use me. I felt that I needed to reach out to this God everybody was talking about, but I thought I would have no friends because my friends didn't go to church. But God says, "there is a friend that sticks closer than a brother." (Prov. 18:24), and let me tell you, my beloved, that friend is JESUS! Although I stayed in the world, the Lord still showered His mercy and grace in my life. Still, I wouldn't surrender to God. I didn't have the power to call on Him! Then things really started getting bad for me. I went in and out of jail more than I stayed on the street. This reminded me of Jonah - when God called him to preach, Jonah went the other way. Did he have it easy? God forbid! Jonah had another agenda that wasn't God's plan, but his own. BUT GOD! He had a plan. All my friends began dying of AIDS. After awhile, I didn't have any more friends. When God has something for you to do, you have to do it. I still hardened my heart and would not receive the Lord. I got arrested for car-jacking and robbery. This time, the judge told me I was going to prison "for life". BUT GOD! He had a plan.

I was in the county jail, and the Lord began to work in my life. I started getting a lot of head knowledge about the Lord, but that as all. Jesus wasn't in my heart. I thought if I could do good things and go to church, it would be alright. Oh no! God says, "we are saved by grace, through faith, and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast." (Eph. 2:8-9). The Bible goes further to say that salvation is "not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to God's mercy He saves us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, which He shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior.: (Titus 3:5-6). I learned that no matter how good my deeds and works were, they were never good enough to wash away all my sin. One day, I was in church services and one of the volunteers that came to the prison told me God wanted to use me. She said, "the judge said you will get life in prison, but God is the real judge! Believe God and He will work it out." I was transferred to Trenton State Prison on a parole violation and that's when the Lord Jesus Christ really touched my life. I heard another minister preach the Word and the title was: "The Belly of the Whale." It was how Jonah kept running from God's call. He thought he wasn't going to do the work that the Lord called him to do. That moment, hearing the message about Jonah, I made a decision for Christ.

I really turned my all over to the Lord Jesus. Now, I'm going to do the will of God. I recognize a peace. Jesus says, "my peace I give you, not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid." (John 14:27). Are you still weighed down by the weight of not having your sin removed? "Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners." (1 Tim. 1:15). If he saved me from a life of homosexuality, imagine what He can do for you. I love Him now, before I didn't...the devil had my mind and I was lost. BUT GOD! His grace and mercy has been shown to me, and I can't stop praising Him enough. God is good! Those of you that don't know Him and have tried everything else in this world, "TRY JESUS." He was all I needed all the time. The Lord is there. He's always there. I promise you this, He will never fail. Just when you think He's not there, that's when God is carrying you. Do you see your need for the saving grace of God? Do you see that you also have transgressed the law of God? (James 2:10/Prov. 19:16). Would you be willing to repent, turn from your sin and trust Jesus' finished work at the cross? Jesus loves you and died to pay the sin debt we all owe. The Bible says, "If you will confess with your mouth, Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness and with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation." (Rom. 10:9-10). If you see your need for Jesus, say this simple prayer with me:
"Lord Jesus, I am a sinner. I am in need of your saving grace. I am tired of living a sinful life. By faith I receive you into my heart. By faith I receive your Holy Spirit so you can live your life in me. Thank you. Amen...Praise God!!!

My friend, if you prayed that prayer, please write me and let me know. I would like to share my precious faith with you.
