"An Inside Perspective"

November 2008

My dear family in Christ,

Ever-precious greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ! Well, praise the Lord, we have a new President. Regardless of our political leanings, which should always be Biblical, it is our responsibility to pray for our leaders at all times. It is written, "I exhort therefore, that, first of all supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men; for Kings and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness."

God spoke through Jeremiah and told the people to pray for the place of their captivity. Yes, the Jews had been conquered, taken to Babylon and were told that they would not be delivered for seventy years! They were sojourning in a foreign land. As they asked God's blessing upon the land where they dwelt, they would, in turn, be blessed themselves. It is written, "And seek the peace of the city whither I have caused you to be carried away captives; and pray unto the Lord for it: for in the peace thereof shall ye have peace."

I want to encourage you today that the same principle applies to us. Just like the Jews, we too are sojourners in a foreign land run by the enemy, namely; this world and Satan. The United States is not our home. It is written, "For our citizenship is in Heaven . . ." Thankfully, if you belong to the Lord Jesus Christ, this world, truly, is not your home. You wouldn't want to live in Sodom or Gomorrah, would you? Well, make no mistake about it, the United States is much worse! As a nation, we have the blood of thirty-million precious children on our hands. It's been said that if God doesn't judge America, then He needs to apologize to Sodom and Gomorrah! But beloved, do not faint nor become weary. It is written, "And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift your heads, for your redemption draweth nigh."

This election has been long and drawn out. I have spoken to many who are discouraged and downcast. Not at the man, but at the policies of the man. We rejoice at our Countries giant leap away from racial bigotry. It is indeed a bold statement of our healing and growth. But as in all things, we should not admire any man for his race alone, but rather, for the fiber of his moral character. What a man approves or disapproves of reveals his heart speedily enough. Do you perhaps have a problem with race? Has this election revealed some things in your own heart that you never thought were there? Those who have a problem with "skin," really have a problem with "sin." Racism is a sin. Unjustified pride is at its core. It is written, "What do you have that you have not received?" Everyone must answer with a resounding, "Nothing!" Beloved, allow the Lord to search your heart.

Observe Satan's devices as he stealthily slides apart the "sin" and the "i" in "sin," while subtly adding a "k," hoping to focus men on "skin" instead of "sin." All the while, "sin" is the true issue. So, you see that if a man deals with his "sin," he will no longer be concerned with "skin." In fact, having been forgiven his "sin," he will then marvelously become our "kin" in Christ! Is that a sanctified play on words? (smile)

I also observed another troubling situation during the course of this election. I watched a startling and ungodly rage arise against Sarah Palin. Immediately after publicly proclaiming her faith in Christ and her allegiance to God's Word, her entire life was placed under a magnifying glass and scrutinized by the "world" in an effort to discredit and attack, not only her, but her entire family. I marveled at her ability to withstand every fiery dart and prayed for her continued strength.

I began to wonder how I might fare in a situation like that myself. Imagine if two-hundred reporters stormed my hometown and began to speak with all my old friends, or worse, my old enemies. How would I look if all my school, work, IRS, driving and other records, were so severely scrutinized and examined? No doubt, I would be awfully ashamed. Not only that, but to then have them broadcast nightly for all the world to see! My stars! Like the prophet Isaiah, I, too, would be undone!

Then, as I continued to ponder further, I realized that this was exactly what was going to happen to men on judgment day. All that was thought to be secret would be revealed. It is written, "For there is nothing covered that shall not be known. Therefore, whatsoever you have spoken in darkness shall be heard in the light; and that which ye have spoken in the ear in closets shall be proclaimed upon the housetops." The very thought makes me shout, "Thank you Father for the glorious blood!!!"

Beloved, the election is over and we must regain our focus. Be encouraged, for the Lord has never taken His hand off the wheel! If the Lord severely scrutinized your whole life and it was shouted from the housetops . . .

Joyfully in Jesus,
