"An Inside Perspective"

January 2006

My dear family in Christ,

Ever precious greetings in the name of our LORD Jesus Christ! It’s Saturday night at about seven-thirty and I am on my way to set-up for Sunday morning services. Our set-up crew consists of mostly musicians and ushers, about fifteen men. We prepare all things that are needful for the next mornings service, such as, setting up all the chairs and musical equipment. After we have everything in order, we then, practice all the songs for the morning; three or four worship songs, to be lead by the Worship Leaders, and also, two songs to be sung by our thirty-five man Freedom Choir.

Lord willing, they will call out services at seven-thirty tomorrow morning. We, the redeemed of the Lord, will again be privileged to gather to hear the Word of our King and to worship Him in the beauty of Holiness. I now proceed back to my wing, I do a little reading, and then, I fall asleep. It seems that all is well. It is written, “For thou knowest not what a day may bring forth.”

It’s four-thirty in the morning now and my eyes pop open. In the laziness of my flesh I mumble some prayers and I try to get back to sleep---I can’t. As we all well know, and I am sure that you have experienced, the Lord has deemed it prayer time for me. I therefore spend some time with Him, while conceding in my heart that today I am getting up early, and, I’ll like it! I get spiritually “strapped up” for the day and ready f or what I have planned. It is written, “For thou knowest not what a day may bring forth.”

Now it’s six o’clock in the morning and I am standing at the bars of my cell door. I have my mirror in my hand and I can see them coming. I use the mirror, to see down the tier with, because I can’t get my head out past the bars far enough to see naturally. I call my mirror, “Spy-Cam One.” (smile) In it, I can now see forty-four police officers walking down my tier, one stopping in front of each one of the forty-four cells.

Fear attempts to enter my heart as my roommate Marcus and I look at each other with a grievous, yet wordless glance, that says, “Not again Lord.” We then quickly refocus, bow our hearts and pray, “Lord protect us and our property please, in Jesus’ name, Amen.” It is written, “For thou knovest not what a day may bring forth.”

I have enough time to gather a few things, my glasses, ID, etc. The Officer quickly arrives in front of my cell and barks, “Give me your clothes, one at a time.” By this time we all know the drill---so we do the hokey-pokey one more time. We are off to a lock-up area for sixteen hours, while, our cells and all of our properties are demolished. This time they are looking for a gun.

We are locked-down for thirteen days with no movement. The Officers are feeding us in our cells with plastic trays. They have to turn the trays sideways to get them through the bars, and therefore, all the food becomes as one. A new twist in jail-house cuisine! I know that the Holy Spirit is in me because I am surprisingly grateful for said grub. I therefore receive the meal as the assurance of my salvation, the proverbial silver-lining as it were. (smile) It is written, “For thou knowest not what a day may bring forth.”

Just when I think it is all over, “Spy-Cam One” reveals a different scenario---here they come again! We had just finished rebuilding after the last raid! It is written, “That which I feared the most has come upon me!” At my age, these hokey-pokey episodes are getting very old! Lord have mercy. (smile)

As always, He did have mercy, by giving grace for the moment and teaching me from it. As I reflected upon the whole of the lock-down and, how everything transpired, I was reminded of the Lord’s word of warning, “Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as you think not, the Son of Man cometh.’ I was all set in my heart and, with my deeds, for Sunday mornings Worship Service. I was all prayed up, I had all the songs prepared and practiced and I went to sleep, peacefully, thinking I knew what the next day held. It held nothing of the sort!

As Christians, were are to stay filled with the Spirit of God. The Holy Spirit is our “Spy-Cam One!” He allows us to see what w6 cannot naturally éee on our own. He shows us, through the Word, who and what is coming! There could be forty—four demons coming down your street (tier) right now---with one of them assigned to your house and family! The Holy Spirit may also wake you up early at times, sovereignly declaring it to be your prayer time and, you’ll like it! (smile) You may not know why, but He does. He wants you to be spiritually “strapped up” for what “He knows” your day will hold. It is written, “For thou knowest not what a day may bring forth.” What do you see in “Spy-Cam One?” Look very closely for...
