"An Inside Perspective"

January 2003

My Dear Family in Christ,

Ever precious greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ! Well, another year has gone by, and by the grace of God this Ministry has grown much during the course of it. I want to use this month to thank and encourage all the supporters of Our Father's Persistent Love Ministries. It has been a very fruitful year in every area and apart from your prayers and financial support we could not do what we do. You are an intricate part of this Ministry! Did you know that we, as a Ministry, can rise no higher than the prayer that is made for us? It is written, "Men ought always to pray and not to faint."

We all operate in different capacities within this Ministry. We are all gifted in various areas and God is using all of us, as He sees fit. We minister, the grace of god in Christ, to men and women behind bars and to their families. It is written, "But now God has set the members, every one of them in the body as it hath pleased Him." You are vital and we pray daily for your faithfulness. You are an intricate part of this Ministry! And yes beloved, we covet your continued support (that would be non-sinful coveting of course.... smile).

It is written, "For where your treasure is, there your heart is also." My treasure is Christ Himself and my love for Him flows freely, like a river of living water, to the prisoners I live with daily. My life is an open book for them. So you see I minister to them, even as I am ministered to, by this ministry. I have such a burden for the unsaved that it is hard for me to express. Jeremiah said it best when he exclaimed, "Then I said, 'I will not make mention of Him, nor speak any more in His Name.' But His Word was in my heart like a burning fire, shut up in my bones; I was weary of holding it back and I could not."

Does not the Lord feed the Pastor and then the Pastor feed us, that we may in turn, feed others? We are just beggars, telling other beggars, where we found bread, right? You are an intricate part of this Ministry, whatever your part is, be it prayer warrior, financial supporter, volunteer worker, jail visitation, the children's Christmas project, birthday cards, or whatever your place, you are an intricate part of this Ministry! Maybe you also share our vision for a "Wholly Way House" (as opposed to the worldly halfway house) and we hope that you are praying with us toward that end?

If you could only see the look on a prisoner's face who has been set free and redeemed by the blood of Christ after years of sin's drudgery! If you could just see the tears streaming down their faces as the Holy Spirit purifies their hearts by faith, causing their mouth to shout hallelujah! It is written, "I planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase... For we are laborers together with God..." I need you to know how much the Lord is using you in this Ministry. I want you to be encouraged. You are an intricate part of this Ministry! I want you to consider stretching out further? It is written, "And Jesus sat over against the treasury, and beheld how the people cast money into the treasury..." Did you know that there are many ways of tithing and most of them are not done with money? Jesus "beholds"; He sees and watches what we put in. Is it our all, by faith and from a pure heart?

I am on the front lines of this ministry and I see the fruits of your labor day in and day out. I see the growth and maturity of new believers that have received a Study bible from you. You are an intricate part of this Ministry! I see how they treasure it as the very Word of the King! It is written, "Where the Word of a King is, there is power." I see the excitement on the prisoner's faces when they get a birthday card or encouragement cards from the children. Honestly, the impact that the children's cards have on these "tough guys" is really something. Most of these "tough guys" are really marshmallows in their hearts anyway and those cards from the children brings it right out of them. Also their faces glow as they say, "Brother Philip, my kids got their presents for Christmas, please extend my thanks to the ministry," (that's you). Thanks, from all of us!

Prisoners are being saved as God "calls them out of darkness and into His marvelous Light!" Moses was on the run from the law for 40 years. He ran into a burning bush and was never the same again! With your support, we aim to be that burning bush in prisoners lives! You are an intricate part of this Ministry! It is written, "Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as you know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord."

Sisters Debbie, Janet, and Pat are weekly bringing Bible studies, services and teaching into the women's jails. Mr. Carver himself is now in Ocean and Monmouth County jails teaching and evangelizing! He has, after all those years of teaching public school, found a new love! Sister Judy, his wife of all those years said, "He is so excited about the jails, I think he forgot about his teaching"" All this fruit is yours because,

You are an intricate part of this Ministry!

Joyfully in Jesus,
